To La Côte Church family and friends,

Dear friends,

On Monday this week, the Church of England remembered Julian of Norwich, a female mystic who lived in the 14th century. She received a series of visions of Christ while critically ill, which she later wrote down. Like us she lived in a time of turmoil, with the Black Death pandemic, religious persecution, and social unrest in the form of the Peasants’ Revolt and yet her writings contain a message of optimism based on the certainty of being loved and protected by God. When we start to feel weighed down by the troubles of our times, perhaps we can remember some of her words:

God is nearer to us than our own soul.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.

He did not say,
‘You will never have a rough passage,
you will never be over-strained,
you will never feel uncomfortable’,
But he did say,
‘You will never be overcome.’

Louise Burrows

A warm thank you to everyone who has been bringing in food and who has signed up to help in practical ways.

Please keep bringing in dried starch produce for us to deliver.

Two practical ways you can get involved:

  1. We are especially looking for volunteers with cars to pick up and deliver the food to and from supermarkets and the warehouse every morning in Nyon at around 8.00am and early evenings at 18.00. If you could commit to one pick up a week/ a fortnight or a month - that would help enormously. Please contact Suzanne Mooney suzanne.mooney@me.com
  2. Volunteers to help with the distribution of food at La Fraternelle from 18.00-20.00. If you think you can help, please contact Andrea Goovaerts as soon as possible.
