Dear friends,

Looking towards our Gift Day on 11 June, today we hear from Peta Tracey :

Prayer is the heartbeat of our church life. It doesn't stop. We could probably say that each one of our church family is praying at some point of the day - at home, at church, on Zoom, at work, out for a walk, in hospital, on holiday ... and at difficult times when we can't pray, we can count on others to do it for us and hold us in the healing love and light of Christ.

Members of the Prayer Group say this about it:

The Prayer Group provides a sense of community aligning us together with a sense of purpose in lifting up those around us. It opens our hearts to hope and allows us to believe in positive outcomes in these times of uncertainty. It reaches out in prayer & supplication for our community, our families, those suffering in our world and for our planet.

Welcome, coffee and chat set off our fortnightly meetings, before we share concerns for prayer, within the confidence of the group, which we then offer to God during a short order of service from the Northumbria Community. 'Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established' (Prov. 16:3) was a notable verse in the readings this week and appropriate for our church and Gift Day. We also take a theme to focus on sometimes, such as 'Gratitude' and 'Hope' during Lent.

We see many prayers answered and trust that the Holy Spirit is at work in ways we cannot see or imagine, always bringing blessing and often changing us, rather than the circumstances for which we are praying.

Everyone is welcome to join us, either in person or on Zoom! Or to count on prayer support for a particular concern, please email Peta in confidence at peta.tracey@lacotechurch.ch
