To La Côte Church family and friends and visitors,

Dear *|FIRSTNAME|*

Our celebration of Christ the King this Sunday will mark the end of this church year. We turn our thoughts to the Kingdom of God and the subversive kingship of Jesus the Christ who turns power upside down. “Though he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave assuming human likeness.” (Philippians 2.6-7).

Whatever power and faith entrusted to us, as we bow before Christ the King, we face his question: How are you using what I have given you to bring in my Kingdom of mercy, justice and peace?

Let’s turn the song “We labor unto glory” by The Porter’s Gate into a prayer for our lives and our church – to bring earth and heaven together for the glory of God’s Kingdom of love.

Here are the words, as our blessing for today:

“My heart, my hands, they’re kingdom bound, Glo-ory
Where thorns no longer curse the ground, Gl-ory
Trim the wick, ignite the flame, Glo-ory
My work, it will not be in vain, Glo-ory
Oh, we labor unto glory, Till heaven and earth are one
O, we labor unto glory, Until God’s kingdom comes.”

My God, my God, where e'er I go, glo-ory
Where I reap and where I sow, glo-ory
When my hand it grips the thorn glo-ory
In the still and in the storm, glo-ory, glo-ory

Good news from the safeguarding team !

The clearance policy in the Church of England has changed and checks are now needed for the past ten years, rather than since the age of 16 as previously. See the newsletter linked below:

https://mailchi.mp/dac910bdf51b/safeguarding-news?e=cea1eaa2c5

Some of you who have been struggling to get clearance from difficult countries may now be cleared!

Please let the safeguarding team know if you want us to check this for you. We will also go through the files and contact people when necessary.

All the best from your safeguarding team Ever, Cate and Liz
