Looking towards our Gift Day on 11 June, today we hear from Kylie Jennings :
It was in November 2022 that our church youth group was first re-established with the intention of fostering strong connections between teenagers and young adults within the broader church community, and the group has gradually increased in size over the last couple of months. Through the combined efforts of the vicar, Carolyn and devoted volunteers such as John, Chris, and Eva, as well as our passionate youth leaders Eoin, Johan and myself, we have successfully established a biweekly gathering.
Here we engage in thought provoking conversations about current topics and find solace in a supportive environment, as we navigate the complexities of modern life as young individuals.
Through our discussions, our church youth group has allowed us to learn to trust in the power of the unknown and to rely on our faith as a source of guidance and strength. Indeed, every two weeks, we explore a wide range of topics to broaden our understanding of different religions and foster interfaith dialogue; as we believe that by engaging in conversations about diverse beliefs, we cultivate a sense of empathy and promote a safe space among our members. Furthermore, our youth group is keen on addressing pressing social matters and increasing awareness to actively work towards combating such injustices.
Our future plans involve organizing enjoyable activities such convivial evenings with games and food (bowling, etc…) and providing an opportunity for everybody to get together, eat pizza and have fun, alongside exploring our faith. We are currently seeking to expand our group and warmly welcome anyone new who wishes to join us.
